A mommy makeover can help flatten, tone, and smooth your abdomen plus it will also improve the shape and size of your breasts. Depending on your initial state of your
body and your goals, your surgeon will tailor the procedures to achieve your desired look. Factors such as amount of excess skin, the patient’s BMI, whether there is or
isn’t sagging off the breasts, will determine the best combination. The surgeon’s goal is to improve the self-confidence and body image of the patient with a tighter, firmer,
and more youthful looking figure, especially for women whose bodies have undergone dramatic changes and desire to restate their figure to how it used to look.
The benefits of a mommy makeover are foremost tighter, firmer, and a
more contoured looking figure. Often patients have not actually experienced pregnancy,
but massive weight loss instead, in both cases stretched out or excess skin in the abdominal
area and sagging breasts are a direct result, which causes many insecurities or sometimes even
restricts the patient to perform everyday activities.
Mommy makeover can correct all of these problems with the right combination of procedures.
Right after surgery you will wake up in a post operative surgical compressive garment
also known as Faja. During the initial recovery from a mommy makeover you will have
surgical bandages covering your incisions and you will wear binder-like garment around
your abdomen and breasts. Since you’ll be a little restricted to move and you’ll be in your
faja for weeks, It is recommended to wear something very comfortable, baggy or loose clothes
that you can take off and put on easily. Preferably something you won’t mind throwing away
afterwards, since you’ll be leaking from your incisions and those clothes are more than likely getting stained.
Right after surgery you will be in discomfort and some pain that will be
treated with medication. Most patients are past the pain within a week of
the procedure but the surgery involves incisions that have to fully heal,
therefore movement is a bit restricted for some weeks. It will be about a
month or 4 to 5 weeks before you are back to your normal activities and 6
to 8 before you can start with light exercises. If pain and discomfort continues
it is important to contact the post operative care at the facility and make them aware of any abnormalities.
The answer is yes, you don’t need to have kids to have a mommy makeover.
In fact if you are a male we would call it a daddy do-over, or if you are a
weight loss patient we can perform the exact same procedures on you. The term mommy
makeover is attributed to the combination of those procedures because most patients
who seek them are women whose bodies have drastically changed after 1 or more pregnancies
and desire to look the way they did before they had kids.
